Intro to Cows Clinic: Focused on Confidence Building

Join us for an innovative one-day clinic, Intro to Cows Clinic with Confidence Building, led by the amazing Charlotte Cannon of Fox Point Farm and Cristin Kyle of Stable Relationships. This unique clinic is designed to rewire your horse’s response to stress and fear, transforming their approach to environmental challenges through the ultimate test: working with cows. By teaching horses the Fear to Confidence Puzzle, you’ll build a stronger, more confident partnership, whether you’re a trail rider, competitor, or equine enthusiast.

Clinic Overview

We will go to each horse and rider's unique abilities. This clinic combines Charlotte Cannon’s proven Cannon Method for fostering relaxation and confidence with Cristin Kyle’s expertise in obstacle confidence building . Starting with groundwork, we’ll guide you and your horse through a series of stress and fear triggers using obstacles to build curiosity and emotional control. The culmination and end goal? Confidently tracking and moving cows, a real-world test of your horse’s newfound ability to process stressors with relaxation and connection.

  • Morning Session (9 AM - 12 PM): Work on basic groundwork with your choice of equipment using cavesons, rope halters, lead lines, and optional tools (whip/stick, flag). Learn to recognize and address your horse’s insecurities using Charlotte’s relaxation techniques and Cristin’s additional methods.

  • Afternoon Session (1 PM - 4 PM): Progress to cow interaction (if your horse is up for it), applying the Fear to Confidence Puzzle to build precision, accuracy, and calm confidence. Riders ready to mount later in the afternoon (at instructors’ discretion) will work cows under saddle.

  • Post-Session: Stay “on course” until 4:45 PM to practice skills with guidance.

No riding experience is required—work can be done entirely on the ground. Helmets are mandatory for riders and encouraged for groundwork participants working cows in hand, and horses known to kick or bite must have a red ribbon in their tail and be announced.

Why Attend?

  • Rewire your horse’s brain to approach stressors with curiosity, not fear.

  • Learn from two world-class trainers with decades of experience in horsemanship and obstacle training.

  • Build a stronger horse-human bond, applicable to any discipline or goal.

  • Gain hands-on experience with cows, a unique challenge to test and showcase your horse’s progress.
