Colic Prevention!
As you all know the horse Rush we were posting about suffered from colic as well as some sort of infection with an unknown cause. He is well on his way and mending nicely! He has a good amount of weight to now gain, but at least he is finally healthy!
Some EASY ways to prevent colic:
-Always have water easily accessible, even in the winter months (heaters are your friend), if you have a horse that does not drink then electrolytes, etc.
-Do NOT feed horses on the ground! This is BAD! It causes things such as sand colic, which was one of the main reasons Rush had such a hard time.
-Do your research, have your horses fecal count done so you can decide on the best worming schedule for you and your horses!
-Have forage available; grass is a natural laxative, but hay also works well!
